Connect PollHero with AI assistants (MCP)
With the PollHero MCP server, you can give AI assistants such as Claude direct access to your survey data. For example, you can ask: “Summarize the responses to my post-purchase survey from last month” or “What reasons do customers give who rated the NPS 0 to 6?”
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants retrieve data from other applications. The MCP server provides the same data as the Data Export API.
The MCP server is included in the Enterprise plan (API access). It has read-only access: the AI assistant can retrieve surveys, questions and responses, but cannot change or delete anything.
What data the assistant can retrieve
- your surveys, optionally filtered by project or creation date
- the questions of a survey, optionally including questions that have already been deleted
- the responses to a survey, filterable by date range, by completed or unfinished participations and by user attributes
- individual responses with selected user attributes
The assistant only sees the projects you are a member of, and only accounts whose plan includes API access.
Connect with your PollHero login
This is how you connect assistants such as claude.ai or Claude Desktop that support signing in via OAuth:
Step 1: In your AI assistant, open the settings for connectors or MCP servers and add a new custom connector.
Step 2: Enter the following as the URL of the MCP server:
https://app.poll-hero.com/mcp/v1Step 3: Start the connection. Your assistant redirects you to PollHero. Log in with your PollHero account there if you are not logged in yet.
Step 4: PollHero shows you the Allow access page. There you can see which application wants access and which account you are logged in with. Click Allow.
PollHero is now connected to your assistant. You can simply ask about your surveys and responses in plain language.
You can disconnect at any time in the settings of your AI assistant.
Connect with an API token
You can also connect tools like Claude Code or Cursor with an API token. To do so, add the MCP server with this URL and the token in the header:
{
"mcpServers": {
"pollhero": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://app.poll-hero.com/mcp/v1",
"headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ph_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" }
}
}
}Your tool's documentation explains where to enter this setting. With a token, the assistant sees all projects the token covers. Requests via the MCP server count towards the same rate limit as the API.
Tips for good results
- Mention the name of the survey so that the assistant finds the right one.
- Narrow down the date range, for example “responses since October 1”, especially for surveys with many responses.
- Double-check important numbers in the reporting. The assistant does its own calculations and may compute metrics differently than PollHero. To learn how PollHero calculates them, see How we count impressions, responses and rates.
